Our Members Make Things Happen
Star Student - Each year we host a banquet for students with the highest SAT scores in Cobb County and Marietta, Georgia Schools. The school systems provide us with the names and we invite the students and their families for a night of celebration. A high profile speaker is asked to present a keynote address for the assembled guests. Many members believe this is our most important annual project.
Morgan Thomas Scholarship - Metro Marietta awards a $1000 scholarship in memory of the late Morgan Thomas (On The Left) . He was a valued member of our club and has a special place in the heart of those that knew him. There have been times when up to three $1000 scholarships were awarded in a single year.
Love The Loop- Have you ever wanted to jump out of your vehicle and clean up a highway in Cobb County? OK, maybe not, but this project provides you with that opportunity. We meet on a regular basis at the Marietta Public Works, North Loop. Rose Wing, Lt. Governor Elect for Division 15 Kiwanis, heads up this project.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Juvenile Diabetes is a serious problem that is impacting families across the country. Our club has been sponsoring the JDRF since 2003.
March of Dimes WalkAmerica - The March of Dimes works to prevent birth defects and infant mortality. To support this major fundraiser for the March of Dimes our Club members meet at Marietta Middle School. We support the Cobb County WalkAmerica effort to Save Babies.
Secret Santa - This is a non-budgeted club activity. Starting in December of each year we collect money for the purpose of ensuring a needy family has a nice Christmas. The needy are always amongst us, so this is our way to make Christmas brighter.
Kiwanis Key Club - Our club sponsors the Key Club at Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia.
Boys and Girls Club - Each year Metro Marietta takes the children of the Marietta, Boy's and Girl's Club to a Braves Game. We always prepare a Hot Dog cook-out before heading downtown to Turner Field.
